Sunburnt Streets

About the project

“Many Street Photographers seem to be preoccupied with scenes that trigger an immediate emotional response, especially humour or a fascination with ambiguous or surreal happenings. A series of street photographs may show a ‘crazy’ world, perhaps ‘dreamlike’. This is, for me, the most fascinating aspect of Street Photography, the fact that these ‘crazy’, ‘unreal’ images were all made in the most ‘everyday’ and ‘real’ location, the street.” - Nick Turpin

For many people the idea of street photography brings about images of New York City, with it’s quirky characters and spaces. However, I have chosen to search for similar moments in a city not often captured through the lens of street photography, one of the most isolated cities in the world - Perth, Australia. This collection also includes some photos taken from other Australian cities, but is primarily focused in and around Perth.
